'Moody Coo' vibrant colours in original soft pastel art

FAMILY, LANDSCAPES, NATURE: I tend to gravitate to these themes.  My original soft pastel work is not 'tidy' or 'polished'. Instead, I like the dynamism and versatility of pastels. I use only high grade pure pigment pastels produced by the brands that provided soft pastels to Degas, Picasso and many other greats.

NATURE, ESPECIALLY HORSES!

The immense power and strength of horses, combined with their beauty and dancing movements, give them an immediate attraction to me. I come back over and over again to the same horse, looking at light and shade, stillness and movement, because I am so inspired and want to paint quickly.  Pure pigment soft pastels allow a real vibrancy and flow to these paintings.

FAMILY

As a mother, I am drawn to images of animals with siblings, mothers, fathers etc. I like to think I have captured the love of family in these paintings.  Quirky paintings, such as ‘Girl under water’ are pure fun to paint. I am not constrained to ‘real life’ or realism and am more concerned with colour, texture and tone.

LANDSCAPES AND NATURE

I love nature, wild landscapes, and am inspired by the gentle rolling hills and fields of the Cotswolds, where I live, but also the more rugged, wild scenes in Cumbria, Peak District, Wales and Scotland.

'Sibling Love' highlights my love of family and my original art always comes back to that.
